Don't loose it!

OBD2 Power Saver Lead

The OBD2 Power Saver lead is approximately 2.5m long. At one end is the J1962 connector (standard 16-pin OBD2 / EOBD) at the other end are polarity colour coded crocodile clips. Between these connections is the intermediate enclosure housing the PCB which includes the 5A fuse the two function LEDs and circuit protection components. Should the fuse blow ensure it is replaced with a fuse of the same amperage. Please note that due to the design of the lead there will be no voltage present at the crocodile clips with the lead connected to the vehicle's diagnostic link connector, hence the reason why fully insulate crocodile clips are not required.

The above image shows a typical wiring diagram of a diagnostic socket and a cigar scoket. Note the diode in the cigar socket so that this can't be used to back-feed the power supply.
