ODB2 Power Saver LeadThe OBD2 Power Saver Lead can be used on any vehicle with a 'standard' 16-pin SAE J1962 diagnostic link connector (DLC) where pin 16 is 'live' and either pins 4 or 5 are earth. Basically if the yellow LED illuminates when the lead is connected to the car it will work!
OBD2On Board Diagnostics second generation (OBD2) - vehicle legislation states that all cars and light trucks built and sold in the United States after 1996 were required to be OBD2 equipped. EOBDEuropean On Board Diagnostics (EOBD) - vehicle legislation states that any passenger car designed for the European market with a petrol engine after 2001 and diesel 2004 onwards will have an EOBD diagnostic socket. It is possible that a pre-EOBD vehicle will have a standard 16-pin diagnostic socket as many manufacturers who sold vehicles world-wide started preparing for the new legislation and were already selling OBD2 compliant vehicles in America. Socket locationsThe vehicle's diagnostic socket should be located within easy access of the driver's seat and no tools should be required to locate the connection. Common locations are: by the bonnet pull / underneath the dash, behind the ashtray, in the fuse box area, behind a coin storage compartment or under the handbrake removable cover.
